Love of Money

For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. – 1 Timothy 6:10

We all need money. We all have bills that we need to pay. There is nothing wrong with money itself. It is an inanimate object that gets passed from person to person and business to business every single day. It is when we begin to love money more than our relationships and responsibilities that we run into problems.

For the last 9 years, I sold cars, and I know what it is like to chase after the money. It wasn’t until after I was let go that I started to look back and realize all the damage that I had done to myself and my family. All I did was work, day in and day out from morning until evening 5 days a week and a lot of times working on my days off putting in well over 60 hours a week. All I could think about was selling cars and making more money. I wasn’t going to church, I was sacrificing my family time for work, and if I was at home, my mind was still at work.

Do I wish I still had a job, yes, but I also know that God has something better in mind for me. I also know that God is trying to teach me about priorities and what is really important.

My relationships and responsibilities concerning my family, friends, and with God were all non existent because my love of money came first.

very good words. Our best days are ahead because of the sovereign decision to follow God at any cost.
He told Abraham now I know of a surety that you will withhold nothing from me.

Jackson,

By “sovereign decision” do you mean our decision by the sovereign grace of God or that our decision is sovereign? Just curious.

Kevin
